MTB Route from Tortosa to Els Ports Natural Park

This 42.78-kilometre circular route is both physically and technically demanding, crossing part of the Vall de l’Ebre and the Els Ports Natural Park, with an accumulated height gain of 861 m in which you climb Font Nova and the slopes of Les Ombrietes to reach Alfara de Carles.

This first section runs parallel to the Dreta de l’Ebre Canal to join the Greenway of the Baix Ebre at kilometre 5. You will pass the old railway station at Estació d’Aldover (km 7) and the town of the same name to kilometre 10, from where you detour east and start to climb the first track at 5% for 289 metres. This takes you onto the track that leads into the natural park.

Now on the Camí del Pedregal Negre d’Alfara track, continue climbing continuously amongst fruit trees and typical local pine trees, pedalling 7 kilometres along the Xerta-Sénia Canal before starting to climb and resting on Pi del Perillo. Prepare yourself for some 4 climbs of up to 20%!

From Pi del Perillo, take the path to Font Nova, from where you drop down to turn off at kilometre 20, following a rural track for over 6 kilometres around Tosses del Coll d’en Fuster and climbing the slopes of Les Ombrietes, where you will find winding sections of no more than 5% to take you to Alfara de Carles.

So far you will have ridden 26 kilometres of asphalt and dirt tracks amongst vegetation, exceeding an altitude of 330 metres.

As you continue and leave Alfara de Carles behind, you reach the last climbs on the route. There is a total of 2 climbs of 8 and 11% that will help you start the descent to Vall de la Servera and follow the ravine of the same name to Els Reguers, Roquetes and finally the Hotel.
