Cardó
This gravel route combines easy, flat sections with the demanding climb to the Balneari de Cardó (spa) and breathtaking landscapes of the Terres de l’Ebre area. The starting point is at Hotel SB Corona, from where you follow the irrigation channel on the right of the Ebro River to Xerta. In this initial stretch, you can already enjoy the view of the Ebro Dam, a characteristic feature of this region. After this point, the route continues along the Val de Zafán Via Verde (greenway) to the old Benifallet Station. Here you cross the Ebro River over the Llaguter Bridge and continue along paths that follow the banks of the river, passing through peaceful green landscapes.
In Rasquera, a village known for its delicious pastries, the ascent begins to the Balneari de Cardó, an old, abandoned spa which is an emblematic point on the route. The last kilometres of the climb are on a dirt track, offering a technical and adventurous challenge.
The descent to Tivenys is on the Mortero track, an exciting stretch that requires skill and attention. Finally, you return to Tortosa following the left side of the Ebro River, where this varied route full of contrasts comes to an end.
